Alvin Roth
How to bring different players together in the best possible way is a key economic problem. Lloyd Shapley studied different matching methods theoretically and, beginning in the 1980s, Alvin Roth explained how markets function in practice. Roth has also developed systems for matching doctors with hospitals, school children with schools, and organ donors with patients.
Atila Abdulkadiroglu
Atila is the Garonzik Family Professor of Economics at Duke University. He is a frequent co-author with Josh and Parag and his work on research design for data from centralized admissions systems contributes to the evaluation of education policies and understanding demand patterns in schooling.
