Avela’s Summer Roundup: New Features
This summer has been full of exciting updates to help schools, districts, and families get more out of Avela. From new ways to streamline your workflows, to better communication tools, to more control over your data, our team has been focused on making the platform faster, more intuitive, and more powerful. Here’s a roundup of some of our recent improvements.
Improvements for Managing Your Workflow
Filter Improvements
You can now quickly zero in on the form responses that matter most. Our enhanced filtering lets you target records with (or without) a specific tag allowing for fine-grain control and powerful combinations. Whether you are looking for applications that meet multiple criteria or excluding certain cases, you can now get to exactly the data you need in just a few clicks. Saved Views
Tired of setting up the same filters and searches over and over? Saved Views let you capture your current form list view, including all active filters and search terms. Once saved, your view can be named, assigned an icon, and even pinned to the left navigation for one-click access anytime. Perfect for creating shortcuts to your most-used workflows. Messaging and Notifications Improvements
School Specific Messages
Communication can now be tailored per school. Organization Administrators can configure automatic messages to come from a specific school and add school-specific content to events such as Offer Extended, Accepted, Declined, Revoked, Waitlisted, Withdrawn, or Removed from Waitlist. To enable, turn on School Specific Messages in Form Settings, then navigate to Automatic Messages to configure them. (Customers can read more in the Help Center.)
Staff Notifications
All Administrators can now opt to receive alerts when key family actions occur, such as:
Submitting an application
Accepting or declining an offer
Withdrawing from the waitlist
School Administrators will receive notifications for their school(s), while Organization Administrators can see updates across the entire organization. Notifications can also be forwarded to a separate inbox to help keep your main email organized. (Customers can read more in the Help Center and contact help@avela.org to enable this feature.)
Additional Form Capabilities
Form Visibility Configurations
We’ve introduced new visibility rules for forms, making it easier to create dynamic, conditional experiences. This is a powerful way to build multi-layer branching, show school- or grade-specific questions, or adjust visibility across entire sections. Use this functionality to fine-grain control what families see based on previous answers. (Customers can read more in the Help Center or watch this video tutorial.)
Improvements for Data and Export
Tags API Endpoint
For organizations using the Avela API, new endpoints now allow you to get and update tags programmatically, making it easier to integrate tagging into your automated workflows. (Documentation here.)
Custom Exports
You can now choose exactly which columns to include in your exports, so you get only the data you need. Pair this with Scheduled Exports or SFTP transfers to automate reporting and integrate cleanly with other systems. (Customers can read more in the Help Center.)
Improvements for Families
Document Library
Families can now reuse uploaded files thanks to a new shared file library. This makes it easier and faster to complete multiple applications without re-uploading the same documents.
